Awesome party with Right On! last night

Over 300 alumni and friends gathered under a huge tent at the Ruins last night for Right On!  They rocked!  Prior to the band party, we honored the 5th and 10th reunion classes and Ansel Sanders ’04, our distinguished young alumnus award winner.

The skies are cloudy today, but still no rain.  Fingers crossed.

Homecoming/Young Alumni Weekend event preview

The Value of a Liberal Arts Degree: Spotlight on Sciences & Languages.  Panelists will discuss their W&L majors in the sciences and languages and how major choice has played into career choices and paths.  We will have a brief, informal reception immediately following the panels.  The panels will begin at 5 pm on Friday, Oct. 9, and everything will take place in the Science Center.  Alumni are welcome to stop by for any part or all of the panels and/or reception.

Bands for Young Alumni Weekend

We’ve got three awesome bands booked for YAW over Homecoming, Oct. 9-11, 2009.

First, on Friday night it’s Right On! at the Ruins.  They’ve played in Times Square for New Years and at an inaugural ball in DC.

Saturday afternoon on the Law School field we’ll listen to Tripp, Alex Wilkins’ 02 band from Chapel Hill.

Then on Saturday night on the Front Lawn we’ll enjoy Virginia beer, wine and BBQ to the sweet bluegrass tunes of Hounddog Hill.

Nearly 250 young alumni have already registered for the weekend!  Hope to see you there!
